Dihlabeng Feeding Scheme News Letter 1

The Dihlabeng feeding scheme has been running for many years but this year we have made a few changes. We are now feeding 16 specific children, from grade R to grade 7.  Each child has been allocated a lunch box so they can collect their food in the mornings and return their box to the kitchen before they go home. Alleta, a member of Dihlabeng church was recently employed to do the cooking for the feeding scheme. The school feeding scheme is also networked with the church’s Mapheo/Vulnerable Children's project, where the children are given extra support and visited by a Mapheo helper once a week in their homes.

"We like Fridays, the food is very nice".

"We like Fridays, the food is very nice".   Many of the children we feed come from homes where there is not always enough food to go around. We have tried to provide a basic but nutritious menu:

    Mondays- Pap and Milk

    Tuesdays- Bread and eggs

    Wednesdays- Bread and Pilchards

    Thursdays- Pap and Milk

Fridays- Pap with beans and Sausages

We would like to thank those who have contributed towards this feeding scheme, as without the donations we would not be able to be doing what we are doing.

Katie van den Heever (feeding scheme coordinator)

Mamahao and Ernie are very proud of their lunch boxes.
